Biographic notes
Born in Menfi (Agrigento) Sicily (Italy) January 27,1955.
In 1969, he enrolls at Civico Liceo Artistico “N. Barabino” of Genoa, he is pupil of artists: Raimondo Sirotti, Hiero Prampolini; Guido Zanoletti, Michelangelo Barbieri Viale and in the same period he meeats the sculptor Lorenzo Garaventa.
In 1973, he graduates with the highest assessment.
After secondary school he begins working marble under the guidance of M. Barbieri Viale.
In the academic year 1973/74 he is a student at Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts of Genoa and he is assistant of painter Raimondo Sirotti.
He begins his artistic career and the attendance of the studios of M. Barbieri Viale and Lorenzo Garaventa.
In 1976, he is military by the barracks of Lodi (MI) and at the same time he attends the Istituto Statale d’Arte of Torino and he obtains teaching qualifications in plastic disciplines with the highest assessment.
In 1976/77, he is substitute teacher by Istituto Statale d’Arte of Chiavari and Liceo Artistico of Genoa.
In 1977, is teacher at Liceo Artistico of Genoa.
Since the academic year 2005/2006 is teacher in “Marble and Hard Stones Tecniques” and “Dynamics and Methodologies of Planning for the Sculptures” at Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts of Genoa
In 1985, the municipality of Genoa tributes him the art prize “Duchessa di Galliera” and acquires one of his works to be placed in the Civic Art Collections
In 1986, wins a staying in New York with a work made with some students for the local newspaper “Il Secolo XIX”.
In the same year he is invited to the exhibition “Sculptors in Genoa since 1950” cured by Germano Beringheli which takes place in the palace of Commenda di Prè in Genoa.
In 1987 the Faculty of Engineering in Genoa invites him to the exposition in Villa Cambiaso Giustiniani cured by Germano Beringheli
In 1990 takes part to the Biennial of Ceramic Art in Savona in the fortress Priamar and one of his works is signalled by the jury the exhibition is cured by Franco Dante Tiglio.
In the field of ceramic is to be signalled the exposition of one sculpture at the International Biennial of Ceramic in Faenza ( 1991 edition) in Palazzo delle Esposizioni
In the same exposition one of his ceramic sculpture is exposed in the stand of Orti Sauli Gallery of Genoa
In 1991 he is teacher for SOGEA at a course of sculputure tecniques for Theatre of Opera propmen.
In 1992 he is invited to “Arte a Genova “ exposition in Theatre of Opera of Genoa, organized by contribution of councillorship of School Institutions and Cultural Activities of Genoa
Still in the ceramic art field, in 1994 he takes part at the exibition “Young Ceramic” in Manlilo Trucco Museum of Albisola, and is invited in the same year by Franco Dante Tiglio to the exposition “Lines of Plastic Research in Contemporary Ceramic” in Priamar fortress in Savona
In 1995 he is invited to the exposition in the open air “Sculptors in Liguria in the Second ‘900” Parco Carmagnola S. Margherita Ligure.
In 1996 “Le Pietre” gallery in Arenzano, hosts his personal exposition of sculptures and paints, with the presentation by sculptor Lorenzo Garaventa
In 1997, makes with some students of Liceo barabino, several slate reliefs for public elevator “Portello Castelletto” in Genoa.
In 1999 he is invited to the exposition “Dall’Arte all’Arte” organized by Chiavari municipality and Economic Society of Chiavari
In 1999 on the occasion of “Imparagiocando”, performs with some students a few installations on the theme of optical illusions: Adalbert Ames’ room, anamorphosis, and didactic games. Temporarily exposed in Palazzo Ducale of Genoa and later permanently in the scientific room of Physics Department of Genoa University.
In 2000 he is invited by Pieve di Teco municipality to erect a ritual mask for the event “Maschere di Ubaga” cured by Franco Dante Tiglio.
In 2002 a project presented to International Concourse “ Nove Terra di Ceramica” is selected to be produced serially by a local ceramic manufacturing company for the MACEF of Milan.
In the same year he wins the competition held by Genoa Municipality Concillorship of public works for the realization of a sculpture to be placed in Via Cordanieri in Genoa.
From January to March 2003 is teacher by municipality of Taggia for a course on the artistic working of slate in the Plan of Local Development.
In March 2003 he cooperates to the scenography of “The Clouds” by Aristofane, sculpuring a big head of Poseidon for the GAG theatre in collaboration with professor Mario De Paz for the direction of Daniela Capurro.
In 2003 he takes part to the exibition “Continuità di una scuola,lorenzo Garaventa ed i suoi allievi” cured by Germano Beringheli, Franco Ragazzi, Renzo Dameri and Maria Galasso, patronage of UNICEF and Genoa Municipality Concillorship.
In 2003 he is the winner of the competition “Acciaio Amico” with a sculpture made by some students of Liceo Artistico Barabino, this work is exposed at the International Fair of Energy and Material Retrieval in Rimini with the patronage of Consorzio Nazionale Acciaio.
In april 2004 he makes for GAG theatre the scene sculptures for the play “Il Monastero degli Eretici”.
In may 2004 he performs a series of siliconic rubber casts of the gateway and of the stuccoes of Palazzo Imperiale of Genoa.
From May to June he is teacher at “Informatic Course for the Third Age” organized by IAL Liguria.
The 27 May 2004 is inaugurated the fountain placed in Via Cordanieri in Genoa.
In October 2004 he exposes in his personal exibition of sculptures, models and papers at Satura Gallery of Genoa.
In 2005 he realizes on the project of architect Joe Farcus a series of sculptures in GRP to be placed on the cruise ship Liberty of Carnival fleet and he collaborates to the decoration of elements of furnishing for the same ship with the farm KVP Vetroresina of Busalla Genoa.
In the month of December 2004 public Castle D' Albertis-Montegalletto is inaugurated to Genoa the elevator that, in the station, is decorated with relief in ceramics realized with the students of the Artistic Grammar school Barabino with the sponsorship of the Municipial Company Transports of Genoa.
From Academic Year 2005/2006, he is teaching of “Techniques of the marble and hard stones” near the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts of Genoa.
December 2005: Prize of the President of from Liguria Regional Committee to the “Prize of Contemporary Art Saturarte 2005” (Satura Genoa)
In year 2006, the collection “Bon Tajer” of Lentiai, Belluno acquires its a copping board in carved wood.
March-April 2006 work with the KVP glass-reinforced plastic of Busalla for the realization of elements of naval furnishings for the ship Costa Concordia.
In May 2006 “Three Figures” exposition to the Gallery Satura of Genoa.
May 2006, executes for the ship cruise Carnival Freedom, two sketches for particular decorated.
May-June 2006, executes the stamps and the models for a “statue prize” for Zanichelli publisher, on original model of the sculptor Sergio Bersi.
October January 2006 executes, on idea of Joe Farcus, elements for the furnishings of the ship cruise Costa Serena.
From Academic Year 2006/2007, he is teaching of “Dynamics and Plan Methodologies for the sculpture” near the Ligustica Academy of Fine Arts of Genoa.
February 2007, executes stamps in RTV of elements of naval furnishings for the ship Costa Serena.
April-October 2007, models for mockup for the cupola of the theatre of the ship Carnival Spendor, and giant model of carpa Koi for the same ship on idea of Joe Farcus.
May 2007, in the Manifestations “La nuit des musées 2007” proposals from Direction des Musées de France (Paris) a sculpture is selected and exposed in the Civic Museum of the Ceramics of Nove Vicenza (Italy) in two manifestations: The Night of the Museums 2007 and Show of Ceramics 2007.
June 2007, Prize for the sculpture at “Biennal GenovArte 2007” Satura, Piazza Stella Genoa.
His works are in collections and space private and publics, in Italy and abroad and documented in national and international publications.
